What types of events can I host at Slate Cafe?

We welcome all kinds of celebrations—birthday parties, graduation gatherings, bridal and baby showers, holiday parties, corporate meetings, children's parties, cocktail receptions, and more. If you're not sure whether your event is a fit, just reach out.

What are the rental fees and food & beverage minimums?

The rental fee is $500/hour at all locations, with a $750 minimum food and beverage spend, 12.5% administrative fee, and suggested 18% gratuity. There are no hidden fees.

What time can events start?

Mornings and early afternoons are our busiest time for regular cafe service, so we're unable to host private events before 3:00PM. Events are available starting at 3:00PM daily. Thank you for your understanding!

How many guests can I invite?

It depends on the location and setup. Our spaces accommodate between 20–50 seated guests, and up to 65 standing. See our Locations page for more information.

Can I bring my own cake?

Yes! Cakes are always welcome. Outside food and beverages are otherwise not permitted—but if you'd like a venue-only rental without food and beverage service, please inquire and we'll discuss your options. In the meantime, check out the desserts that are always on our menu. Maybe one of those would work for you.

Can I bring decorations?

Absolutely. Flowers, balloons, and signage are always welcome. Note: anything hung on the walls must use non-damaging wall tape to protect the spaces we all love.

What beverage options are available?

We offer two options: On Consumption (à la carte, guests order on demand) or an Open Bar (per-person flat rate with unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks, and espresso). Please note we do not serve hard liquor—beer, wine, and ciders only.

Can I make special menu requests?

If you have a specific dietary need, theme, or menu idea, reach out and we'll do our best to make it happen.

Which locations are available for private events?

We currently offer private event rentals at four locations: NoMad (121 Madison Ave), Midtown (941 2nd Ave), Upper West Side (2109 Broadway), and Greenwich, CT (3 Strickland Rd).
